FolderEnhancer is a very useful tweak available on Cydia that enhances iOS 4 folders on your SpringBoard — and it comes with a cool feature no one uses — custom folder backgrounds.
This video tutorial shows you how to do that:
What do you need?
- iFile
- Winterboard
- A jailbroken iDevice
- FolderEnhancer
- MobileSubstrate
- Find a picture you like and email it to yourself.
- Save the picture again. This is so that you can easily find it in iFile.
- Go to iFile and navigate to /var/mobile/Media/DCIM. Find the folder that is higher (for example, if you have 100APPLE and 101APPLE, navigate to 101APPLE).
- Copy the last picture in the list.
- Navigate to /Library/Themes and create a folder. Name it Anything.theme.
- Inside your new theme folder, create a folder called Bundles.
- Inside Bundles, create a folder called com.apple.springboard.
- Inside com.apple.springboard, paste the file. Name it as follows:
- If you’re on an iPod touch 2, iPod touch 3, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS: FEFolderBG.png (320×480).
- If you’re on an iPod touch 4, iPhone 4: FEFolderBG@2x.png (640×960).
- If you’re on an iPad: FEFolderBG~ipad.png (1024×1024).
- FEFolderBG-Portrait~ipad.png (768×1024).
- FEFolderBG-Landscape~ipad.png (768×1024).
iPad alternatives:
- Go to Winterboard.
- Activate your theme and respring. Enjoy!
