Redsn0w is compatible with today’s retail release of Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.

One of the most popular jailbreak tool is Redsn0w which is provided by MuscleNerd and his fellow iPhone Dev Team members. Thankfully, he has moved to eradicate some of the fear by telling his Twitter followers and updating the iPhone Dev Team blog to inform users that Redsn0w is compatible with Mountain Lion:

Redsn0w is compatible with today's retail release of Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.  Until we start using an official developer ID for it (!), you'll need to use the new Ctrl-Click-Open security bypass the first time you run it after downloading.

As per the blog post instructions, those who intend on using 0.9.14b2 version of Redsn0w on OS X 10.8 will need to Ctrl-Click-Open the app for the first time to bypass the new security features in Mountain Lion. This is only applicable on the first run after the download. The fact that Mountain Lion has only been officially live to the public during the course of today and having seen a jailbreak related update already shows that the iPhone Dev Team is on the ball as always and is continuously looking out for the best interests of their community.

Why Apple quickly became one of the world’s most successful retailers.

When Ron Johnson left Target to become Apple's Retail Chief in 2000, people thought he was absolutely nuts. Apple was in danger of going out of business, and other PC manufacturers like Gateway were closing their retail locations. Johnson ignored all the warning signs because he says he saw that Apple was about to be a huge part of the digital revolution. He also recognized that Apple offered consumers something other companies couldn't – amazing products and an incredible retail experience.

In a recent interview at Fortune Conferences, Johnson explained why customers choose to come to the Apple store to buy their products when they could get them on Amazon or Best Buy for a lot cheaper:

You can get every Apple product every day cheaper at Amazon, many times elsewhere. But people come to the store, and that's because the store offers something people need, which is really help and support and connecting, because I think there's always been this idea in a high tech world, people really strive for high touch.

If you really look at what happens at an Apple store, it's connections happening. It's a genius with a person trying to solve a problem. It's someone getting personal training. It's someone getting their products set up before they leave the store. It's someone learning about something that might change their life. You know, so there's these connections that are really necessary in a digital world, you know, because you want that offset of the physical world. You want that physical experience.

In November of 2011, Johnson left Apple to become the CEO of JC Penny – another struggling company that he hopes to turn around. Under Johnson's guidance, Apple quickly became one of the world's most successful retailers. Apple stores earn more money per square-foot than any other retail location in the world. Something that wouldn't have been possible without Ron Johnson and Steve Jobs's vision of providing customers with the excellent experience you can now receive inside Apple's metal and glass palaces.

Facebook 1.9.7 for Android has just been released

Facebook, although the world's number one social network, has failed to capitalize fully on the mobile market, and its apps for each of the respective three big mobile operating systems have left a lot to be desired. Mark Zuckerberg's company is always releasing updates for each platform, and despite usually amending bugs from the previous iterations, always seem to have a multitude of new, prominent performance issues.

With Facebook's well-documented IPO now done and dusted, Zuck and his team of developers have been working continually to improve the outfit's mobile prowess. In order to continue momentum and push share prices up, plenty of mobile acquisitions have been made already, including the highly-publicized coup of Instagram, while other purchases are said to be in the pipeline, such as the Opera Browser.

Facebook 1.9.7 for Android has just been released over at the Google Play Store, and aside from the usual array of bug fixes and performance enhancements, it actually includes a reasonable stash of new and useful features. Perhaps most significantly, those wielding an Android device with a front facing camera can now use it to take snaps and upload them straight to the social network. In all cases, the front facing camera is inferior to the higher quality shooter on the back, but for simple photos of faces, they are much easier to take using the lens above the screen.

As well as the camera improvements, the messaging features have also been treated to modest improvement. Now, those using Facebook for Android to catch up with friends, relatives and associates will find they can now switch easily through conversations, include friends of friends, share bigger photos than ever before, and also check who is available online.

Facebook reckons the app is a lot more fluid in navigation, although we haven't yet had a chance to test it for ourselves. As well as bug fixes, there are improvements from a security point of view, which will be more than welcome to the many millions of Facebook for Android users.

And before you get downloading, there's a small catch, the app now only works on Android 2.2 Froyo devices and up.

Facebook Releases SDK 3.0 For iOS

Facebook announced today that it is releasing its biggest iOS SDK update yet with the release of SDK 3.0 Beta for iOS, which also includes iOS 6 integration for native Facebook login. It is also rolling out a completely refreshed iOS Dev Center with tutorialsconcepts, and reference docs to help iOS app developers build great Facebook-integrated apps for iOS devices.

As for iOS 6 integration, Facebook explained the new SDK would automatically support use of the native Facebook Login feature in iOS 6 once it launches, and it will continue to support the feature in beta until then. Facebook said all new features in SDK 3.0 would work on iOS 4.0 or later: "Just enable Login with Facebook and the SDK will ensure your apps work seamlessly on all iOS versions 4.0 and later."

While walking through some of the new features included in the SDK, such as improvements for iOS 6, the announcement highlighted new drag-and-drop, "ready-to-use native UI" components and enhanced API support:

Ready-to-Use Native UI Views: This SDK release includes a variety of pre-built user interface (UI) components for common functions. You can quickly drop them into your apps instead of building each one from scratch or using dialogs. This gives you a fast, native and consistent way to build common features.

  • FBProfilePictureView lets you display a user's profile picture.
  • FBPlacePickerViewController allows users to query the Facebook Places database to find nearby options and check in.
  • FBFriendPickerViewController, with single and multi-selection options, enables users to easily select friends. This supports filtering friends by device type and application authorization status.

Modern Objective-C language features support: With Automatic Reference Counting (ARC), you no longer have to spend as much time on memory management. Support for blocks means that it's now more straightforward to handle sessions and calls to asynchronous Facebook APIs. This, along with inclusion of key language features like idiomatic API naming and KVO, allows you to transition seamlessly between the Facebook SDK and Apple's iOS environment.

Improved Facebook APIs support: We have enabled batching for SDK requests to significantly improve latency for Facebook API calls, which translates to much faster access times for API requests. Support for strongly typed Objective-C types for graph actions and objects makes programming against the social graph more concise and easier. This combined with our action publishing API makes it easier to publish Open Graph actions to people's timelines.

The Facebook SDK 3.0 Beta for iOS is available to download here.

How to Fix the YouTube Embedded Video Issue .

How to Fix the YouTube Embedded Video Issue . Embedded YouTube videos not playing on your iPhone? Perhaps your YouTube App is hidden? whatever if you have the YouTube app hidden can result in embedded videos being replaced with the image below.

YouTube videos on the actual YouTube site will still play fine regardless, but embedded videos can give you problems if your stock YouTube app is hidden, or you have restrictions enabled.

Jailbreak apps like Springtomize 2, and SBSettings, courtesy of Poof, are the sort of apps with the capabilities to hide an app icon from view.

Step 1: Check to see if you can find your stock YouTube app on your Home screen.

Step 2: If you can't find your stock YouTube app, open the jailbreak app that you used to hide the stock YouTube app, and unhide it.

Step 3: Refresh your browser and visit a site with an embedded YouTube video — iDownloadBlog has lots of them — and verify that you can now play embedded YouTube videos.

Ironically, if you're having this issue, you won't be able to watch it on this page. Instead, head over to our YouTube channel where you can watch it instead.

If you're not jailbroken, then try this:

Step 1: Open the Settings app and go to General > Restrictions

Step 2: Ensure that the YouTube app is set to On.

Step 3: try to view a webpage with an embedded video.

iPhone 4S Will Have A Wireless Charger. Do you Support to Charger your iPhone 4S Wirelessly ? Today we will show to you How To Add Wireless Charging To iPhone 4S , an electronic engineer called Tanveer Islam and his Friends took this idea upon them self's to add an exciting feature to the iPhone 4S.

Tanveer Islam has used some electrical engineering prowess to modify his iPhone 4S and add wireless charging that doesn't need any external case.

Islam says the wireless charging works flawlessly, and only adds about 1 millimeter to the iPhone's overall thickness.

"There are wireless charging options out there such as the powermat system but they all involve slipping on a jacket around the iPhone. I wanted to internalize the technology so that the beauty of the iPhone not hidden away!"

Baseband Freedom - DFU IPSW for iPhone home/power buttons which are broken or intermittent.

Baseband Freedom

Happy 4th of July!  Today's release of redsn0w 0.9.14b2 improves the iPad baseband downgrade and should cover anyone who couldn't downgrade with 0.9.14b1.  This version covers 3 different types of NOR chips in the iPhone 3G and 3GS (the earlier version covered only the most prevalent NOR chip).  We've also simplified the process and added logging to help diagnose any remaining stubborn iPhones.

The revised steps are:

  1. Connect your iPhone in normal mode, then click "Jailbreak" after redsn0w identifies its model and BB version (you needn't pre-select the IPSW anymore).
  2. Choose the "Downgrade from iPad baseband" option (you needn't worry about de-selecting Cydia anymore).
  3. Do a controlled "slide to power off" shutdown of your phone and proceed through the normal DFU ramdisk steps.

Should the downgrade fail to take, feel free to leave the redsn0w log in the comments below.  Use the "Extras->Even more->Backup" button to grab a copy of /var/mobile/Media/redsn0w_logs, then extract the log text file(s) from the zip and paste them into the comments (currently that log file is generated only during baseband downgrade runs).

NOTE: The original warning about 3GS units manufactured in early 2011 or later still holds!  They have a NOR chip that's incompatible with 06.15.00 and so trying to install it will brick the device.  Please read and re-read the warning in our earlier post.

Thanks to bobmutch and drh for lending us their iPhones to improve the baseband downgrade!

DFU IPSW

We've gotten a lot of feedback from users who can't launch a DFU ramdisk because their iPhone home/power buttons are broken or intermittent.  We've added a new redsn0w feature that lets you enter DFU mode as long as your phone is healthy enough to restore to a normal, everyday IPSW.  You don't need to be already jailbroken to use this method.

In redsn0w, go to "Extras->Even More>DFU IPSW" and select an IPSW that is currently being signed for your device and that you'd normally be able to restore to without any hacks.  redsn0w will create an "ENTER_DFU_" version of the IPSW that you can restore to just like any other IPSW, except that now you'll be dumped into DFU mode towards the end of the restore (WARNING, your screen will remain completely black…the only way to even know its own is that iTunes and redsn0w will detect it!).  The technique used by this feature is 3 years old but surprisingly still works today!

Here are the download links.  Enjoy!
