Download 2011 WWDC App for iPhone and iPad

Apple has just rolled out the official WWDC App for the 2011 event. The pre WWDC gifts first started rolling out earlier this week as Apple made the iWork Application suite universal. While the WWDC is free to download for all iPhone and iPad users, it is actually meant for the WWDC attendees so that they can view the schedule, venue maps and make advance reservations at the Labs. App requires valid WWDC ticket to use.

At this point holding a WWDC 2011 ticket is probably going to give someone the same amount of joy that Charlie had when he held the ticket to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.
While we can all download the App from the iTunes App Store, you need a valid ticket. The app requires you to login with the Apple ID used to activate the WWDC ticket in order to work.
We had seen Apple release a similar app before last year’s event too. However, this time the app is universal and is available to iPad users too. Here’s what all the attendees can do with the WWDC app.
1. Reserve Time at the Labs – The WWDC 2011 app allows you to make a reservation at the User Interface, App Review, iTunes Connect, Program Support, or Developer Publication lab. Once you make a lab reservation, it will appear in the schedule section of the app when you filter your view by Favorites.
2. Sessions and Labs Schedule – View the daily conference schedule including lunchtime and evening events. Filter your view to search by technology, platform, sessions, or labs.
3. Create Your WWDC Schedule – Tap on the detail view of any session, lab, or event. Then tap “Add to Favorites”. Your selections will be added to the Favorites section of the app and can be updated on-the-go.
4. Locate Sessions and Labs – Easily find your way around Moscone West with detailed floor maps. You can also tap on a specific session or lab for the level and location where you need to go.
5. Conference News – Stay up-to-date with all the announcements during the week. The WWDC 2011 app provides you with the latest news as soon as it’s announced.
6. Conference Photos – View photos of the WWDC experience. Images from the sessions, labs, and special events will be added daily.

If you follow Apple news and events closely, you might want to read more about the WWDC event here. And if you are attending WWDC 2011 you might as well go ahead and download the app for yourself here.
The official schedule for WWDC 2011 has also been released online on Apple’s Developer site here but again it requires a valid ticket to view the content.
