if You Want Untethered iOS 4.3 Jailbreak, You have to Preserve iOS 4.2.1 ipsw file

If you are closely following iPhone Dev team & Chronic Dev Team then you might have noticed their arguments over Redsn0w 0.9.7, where Posixninja & Chronic claiming that Redsn0w 0.9.7 is encouraging piracy. The piracy has been introduced because of iOS 4.2 Beta 3 firmware requirements which is not available to general iPhone users & only iPhone developers having account with Apple can get it legally.
We all know iPhone dev team got their backup plan in action only after knowing Comex won’t be able to deliver untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak solution by Christmas. But now here is something interesting which caught our eyes.
iOS 4.3 Untethered Jailbreak
If Comex releases untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak then you will need to preserve iOS 4.2.1 IPSW & hashes for upcoming iOS 4.3 untethered jailbreak.
Here is whole explanation why you will need,
Limera1n bootrom exploit by Geohot can do tethered jailbreak on any idevices with any iOS firmware but in order to make untethered jailbreak it needs separate kernel hack. This job of finding kernel hack is done by Comex. So if comex release untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak the chances are high that Apple will patch it in upcoming iOS release.
Now here is where trouble of finding new kernel hack for newer iOS firmware jailbreak starts. Fortunately iPhone dev team has found new method, we call it “backup plan” which we are using to get untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1 using old firmware (4.2 beta 3).
In same way we can get untethered jailbreak on newer firmware with the help of older kernel hack and firmware file. So if Comex is successful in finding iOS 4.2.1 kernel heck then in future Dev team will use this kernel hack & iOS 4.2.1 firmware file to get untethered jailbreak on all future iOS release.
This is once for all situations for all existing idevices, also it will eliminate the need of developer account to get beta firmware files from Apple, as iOS 4.2.1 is public for all. So save your iOS 4.2.1 IPSW file now if you want untethered jailbreak for all future iOS and hope that Comex will succeed in finding untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1.
