Speed Up Your iPhone [Cydia Tweak]

While Apple’s iPhone 4 is now slouch in the speed stakes, we could all use a little speed boost now and again. With today’s iOS apps and games becoming increasingly power-hungry, squeezing every last clock cycle out of our hardware is a must, and if you jailbreak it’s entirely do-able too.
Available via the Insanelyi.com repository (repo.insanelyi.com), Speed Intensifier is actually two tweaks – one for Settings.app and the other for WinterBoard.

The first tweak allows users to reduce or remove iOS transitions. The iPhone is a very transition-heavy device with things sliding and swiping all through the OS and reducing the time waiting for these to complete can certainly make the device feel noticeably faster.

The second tweak allows you to speed up your phone in general by making the CPU run faster, though the affect on your battery life may be too large a hit to be worth the speed increase depending on how far you tend to be from a charger.

Both tweaks are free downloads from Cydia, so if the idea of a faster iPhone tickles your fancy, there’s really nothing to lose by giving it a shot.

You will, of course, need to have a jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to install it.
