[Guide] How To Jailbreak Apple TV On iOS 4.3 with Seas0nPass

Seas0nPass 0.7.2 is now available for download. Seas0nPass 0.7.2 can jailbreak Apple TV 2G runningiOS 4.3 firmware. However, it’s a tethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3 for now.

“Seas0nPass has been updated to support a tethered jailbreak of the new AppleTV 4.2 (iOS 4.3) software. Big thanks to @nitoTV, @DjayB6 and @p0sixninja for help getting everything together.”
What’s new in AppleTV 4.2 (iOS 4.3)? Should I update?
  • AirPlay for apps and websites
  • MLB.TV & NBA Game Time live streaming
  • Netflix Dolby Digital 5.1
  • Other minor improvements and fixes
If the above features don’t excite you the auto-update feature can be disabled through the Maintenance –> Settings menu.
NOTE: If you choose to update to the new version you will lose your current jailbreak and aTV Flash (black) plugins.
Is aTV Flash (black) Beta3 compatible?
For the most part yes. However, you may see a few oddities with text entry screens in plugins like Couch Surfer and nitoTV. These are relatively minor issues and should be a quick fix.

Creating IPSW Custom Firmware files to Jailbreak Apple TV2 on iOS 4.3

Step 1: Unzip the ‘’ file and launch Seas0nPass.
Step 2: If your AppleTV is not yet jailbroken, select ‘Create IPSW’. (if already jailbroken, and you just need to do a ‘tethered boot’ scroll down).
Step 3: The latest AppleTV software will be downloaded and used to create a custom ‘jailbroken’ software file.
Step 4: When prompted, connect your AppleTV using a micro-USB cable (leave power disconnected), and hold both the ‘MENU’ and ‘PLAY/PAUSE’ buttons for 7 seven seconds.
Step 5: iTunes will open automatically and start the restore process.
Step 6: iTunes will confirm the restore when complete – your AppleTV is now jailbroken. Please proceed to the ‘tethered boot’ section below.

Booting Apple TV 2G in Tethered Mode

As there is no untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3, we will have to boot it into a tethered mode. This means the AppleTV must be connected to a computer for a brief moment during startup. Just follow the steps below:
Step 1: Open Seas0nPass and select the ‘Boot Tethered’ option.
Step 2: When prompted, connect the AppleTV to your computer via USB. Wait for the rapid flashing light then connect the power. Once both are connected hold both the ‘MENU’ and ‘PLAY/PAUSE’ buttons for 7 seven seconds.
Step 3: Seas0n Pass will complete the tethered boot automatically. Once complete, remove the USB cable and connect the HDMI cable.
Currently, there is no untethered jailbreak which is fully baked. However, the team is hard at work to release the windows version of Seas0nPass. For all Jailbreak related updates,
